GET SHORTY - NYLON MAGAZINE: "GET SHORTY
The crop top makes a comeback - are you ready to bare all?
It used to be hemlines that moved around; with every passing decade, skirts slowly inched up, first passing ankles, then knees, before finally grazing thighs. But by now, wearing a miniskirt is practically pedestrian, embraced by everyone from tweens at the mall to octogenarians at bingo night.
Instead, it’s a very different type of skin-baring outfit that draws stares: the crop top. A closet mainstay in the ‘90s, the ab-revealing top works for bad girls (think Alicia Silverstone in the video for Aerosmith’s “Crazy”) and good girls (think Alicia Silverstone as Cher in Clueless) alike. Now, with temperatures on the rise, the crop is on the verge of a major comeback.
Designers from Anna Sui to Cushnie et Ochs showcased their own versions of the belly shirt on the spring '09 runway, but we found a few more that make up for the lack of material with reasonable prices (and for your own at-home DIY, try chopping up your favorite oversize tees). There are even crop tops with detachable tanks underneath for those too modest to show a bit of skin all day.
Whether on the beach or at a Fourth of July BBQ, it’s one way to declare your independence—from stomach-covering clothes.

I found this on NYLON, many commented that it's not a good idea at all. What do you think?
